Communities across Powys are set to come together for an exciting third day of the King’s Baton Relay, with events taking place in Brecon and the Elan Valley on Sunday.
The day will begin in Brecon, with the relay starting at 9:00am at Brynich Lock (LD3 7UY). Due to limited parking at the start location, spectators are encouraged to gather at the canal basin in Brecon, where the relay can be viewed from 10:00am onwards. The Brecon leg will conclude at 10:30am at Theatr Brycheiniog.
In the afternoon, the relay will continue in the Elan Valley. The Elan Valley Baton Relay will begin at 1:00pm at the top of the first dam, Caban Coch (LD6 5HP), and will finish at 2:30pm. The event will be followed by community celebrations, offering an opportunity for residents and visitors to come together and enjoy the occasion.
Councillor Glyn Preston, Powys County Council’s Cabinet Member for a More Prosperous Powys, said:
“These events are a fantastic opportunity to bring our communities together while celebrating local and international sporting success. The fact they are taking place on Father’s Day makes them even more special, and I would encourage residents to come along with their families and be part of this memorable occasion.”
