Happy International Women’s Day from our Chair

International Women’s Day is a great time to reflect in what ways organisations that I’m involved have progressed over the years. I am blessed to work alongside many inspirational women at executive & Board level in Commonwealth Games Wales and Gymnastics but equally humbled and privileged to see our members and partner organisations commit to reaching out to wider diverse groups. 

I’m so proud to work with great male role models who are also leading the campaign for gender equality and this really does demonstrate how far sport in Wales has come to improve the balance. I’m proud to be part of it! 

I recognise that both our organisations’ balance of Board gender has changed significantly in comparison to 10 years ago. Surely this effective balance is a contributor to the success we have experienced!! 

I have the philosophy that if just one woman encourages another to volunteer in community sport, apply for that dream job or give confidence in an athlete to win a medal we’ve made a huge difference. Long may that continue!
