At the helm is Chef de Mission, Gethin Jones, who will be the Spokesperson for Team Wales in the lead-up and during the Games next summer.

Joining Gethin is an experienced and dedicated Senior Leadership Team bringing together expertise across all areas of Games delivery, responsible for ensuring every athlete has the support needed to perform at their very best:

  • Cath Shearer (Athlete Villages Lead)
  • Zoe Gardner (Operations Lead)
  • Cathy Williams (General Team Manager)
  • Matt Cosgrove (Deputy Chef de Mission)
  • Dr Katy Guy (Chief Medical Officer)

Both Matt Cosgrove (Head of Games Operations) and Cathy Williams (Head of Communications and Engagement) are senior members of the Team Wales staff, bringing a wealth of Games-time experience and leadership; with both also part of the Team GB headquarters for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Cath Shearer has been part of the Team Wales HQ team since the Melbourne 2006 Games, and has also worked at Beijing 2008, London 2012 and the Rio 2016 Paralympics. Zoe Gardner brings valuable experience from her time as Team Operations Manager across England & GB Rugby, and ‘in house’ roles with Team GB across both Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr Katy Guy, has supported athletes across multiple Games and Youth Games, ensuring world-class medical care and wellbeing for Team Wales. She has recently returned from providing support at the World Para Athletics Championships in Delhi. Cath (Shearer), Zoe and Katy work at the Sport Wales National Centre, with Dr Katy Guy also working as an Emergency Medicine Consultant at Morriston Hospital.

Together, this team will be at the heart of the Welsh contingency in Glasgow — working across Athlete Zones, Operations, Logistics, Media, and Team Wales House to create an inspiring, athlete-centred environment where performance and pride go hand in hand.

Chef de Mission Gethin Jones said:

“It’s a real honour to lead Team Wales into Glasgow 2026. Every Games is about more than medals — it’s about representing our nation with passion, integrity, and pride. We’ve built a strong, experienced HQ team who share those values and are committed to giving our athletes the best possible platform to shine for Wales.”

The leadership team will be powered by a strong and passionate headquarters team, united in purpose and working together to create a truly world-class environment for Team Wales. Together, they will ensure our athletes, their families, and Welsh supporters feel inspired, supported, and proud to be part of something special.

Team Wales CEO, Rebecca Edwards-Symmons added:

“This is a hugely exciting step on the road to Glasgow 2026, and for me personally it will be an honour to work at my first Commonwealth Games. The HQ team brings together some of the most experienced and passionate people in Welsh sport — all driven by one goal: to deliver a world-class Games experience for Team Wales and our athletes.’’
