Cycling at the Commonwealth Games is split into three disciplines; Road, Track and Mountain Biking. Since 1954, Wales have won a total of 22 medals across all events, the first gold on the road was in 2002, when Nicole Cooke crossed the line first in Manchester, 2002. The nation has medaled in the road event in every edition since 2002, including Geraint Thomas’s spectacular victory in Glasgow, 2014. Elinor Barker returns after giving birth back in March, but this time the reigning Points Race champion turns her attention to the Road.

On the boards, Wales have garnered a total of 16 medals in all events. Birmingham 2022 will also feature Tandem para-sport events, where James Ball picked up two silvers in both disciplines in Gold Coast and was Wales’ first of the games.
