Ela Letton-Jones has been swimming since early childhood, beginning lessons alongside her sisters at Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre and in Caernarfon. Ela competes in the S12 category. A fluent Welsh speaker, she hails from Y Felinheli. She was coached under Bron Hill at Swim Gwynedd Performane club.
After narrowly missing selection for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, she was invited onto the Aquatics GB Para-swimming World Class Programme.
On 6 August 2025, she was selected to compete at the World Para Swimming Championships, where she made her international debut and won a silver medal in the S12 100-metre backstroke.
In September 2025, at the World Championships in Singapore, she confirmed her arrival on the international stage with silver in the 100m backstroke.
In 2026, she set three new Welsh para-swimming records at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, continuing her success.
Ela recently began studying Criminology at Manchester Metropolitan University, choosing the university for its proximity to the Manchester Aquatics Centre. Ela’s goal now is to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
