The team will compete against some of the world’s strongest netball nations as they aim to build on Wales’s growing reputation on the international stage and inspire the next generation of players across the country.

The team combines experienced internationals with exciting emerging talent, reflecting the continued progress of Welsh Netball in recent years. In 2025, the Welsh Feathers achieved a historic milestone by breaking into the World Netball Top 6 for the very first time. That world ranking automatically secured qualification for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, underlining the team’s continued rise on the international stage.

Wales has a proud Commonwealth Games history in netball, with its best-ever finish coming in Manchester 2002, where the team placed sixth. At the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth GamesWales finished eighth after impressive group-stage victories over Scotland and Barbados before narrowly missing out on seventh place following defeat to Malawi in the classification match.

The squad also builds on a legacy of memorable performances, including setting a Commonwealth Games goal-scoring record against Sri Lanka in 1998 and producing a record-breaking performance against netball powerhouse New Zealand at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. These achievements reflect the continued growth and ambition of Welsh Netball as it prepares for another opportunity on the Commonwealth stage.

CEO of Wales Netball, Sarah Bosswell said “Today is a hugely proud day for Wales Netball as we announce the athletes who will wear the Welsh dress at the Commonwealth Games.

Representing your country is one of the greatest honours in sport, and every athlete selected has earned that opportunity through years of commitment, sacrifice and resilience. What makes this group even more remarkable is that our players balance full-time careers, education and family commitments alongside competing at the highest level of international netball.

Behind every athlete is an incredible network of family, friends, coaches, employers and teammates whose unwavering support has helped make this moment possible. Their contribution is often unseen, but it is invaluable, and we thank every one of them for believing in our players and the journey they are on.

As a nation, we have always punched above our weight, and this squad embodies everything that makes Welsh sport so special: pride, passion, resilience and an unwavering commitment to the red dress. We know the whole of Wales will stand behind them as they prepare to compete on one of the biggest stages in world sport.

Congratulations to every athlete selected. You carry not only our hopes, but the pride of a nation.’’

Team Wales Chef de Mission Gethin Jones welcomed the announcement, saying: Congratulations to every athlete selected for the Team Wales netball squad. They are an incredible group, who look out for each other on and off the court. Reaching a Commonwealth Games is the reward for years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice. Netball continues to play an important role within Team Wales, and I know this TEAM will represent the nation with pride, passion and determination. We look forward to seeing them compete in Glasgow this summer.”
