The Importance of family in Business and Sport

The last Business Club event was held at the Parkgate hotel in Cardiff in December, with the focus on ‘The importance of family in Business and Sport’.

Two panels dominated the event with the first focussing on family in Business. Team Wales partners Owens Transport and Nathaniel Cars shared an insightful overview of working with family members, building up a family business and the importance of a supportive family in business success.

The second panel was athlete focussed, with Commonwealth gymnast Jacob Edwards and his dad Paul, five time Commonwealth Lawn Bowls athlete, and captain at the last games in Birmingham 2022, Anwen Butten, and finally Cycling World Champion Becky North, and her dad Dai. They talked about the importance of a supportive family network that’s needed to achieve success as an elite athlete. Singer Sophie Evans closed the event in a spectacular festive performance.

Team Wales CEO, Rebecca Edwards-Symmons said ‘Getting the opportunity to launch the Business Club within my first twelve months has been superb. Having a focus on different topics in each one, really gives us the opportunity to bring in unique guest speakers and panellists. It also gives us the key opportunity to bring businesses across Wales together to learn about the Games, Team Wales and a further opportunity to network and create new relationships and partnerships. 2023 was a great launch for us, we look forward to further Business Clubs event in 2024’.
