Ross Owen

Ross Owen is one of Wales’s finest bowlers of his generation and arrives at Glasgow 2026 as a genuine medal contender. Born in 1994 in Merthyr Tydfil, Ross started playing bowls at the age of four, inspired by his grandfather, and reached a career high ranking of world number 4 in June 2025. Ross reached a career high ranking of world number 3 in February 2026. Can you also mention the World Cup Pairs Gold Medal in Malaysia, British Isles Single Gold Indoors & Outdoors and also World Champion of Champions Bronze Medal.
He has won multiple national titles including the Welsh National Fours, Triples, and Singles, represented Wales at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games — winning a bronze medal in the men’s triples at Birmingham — and won the singles title at the British Isles Bowls Championships in 2024. In 2025, he and Lauren Gowen won silver in the mixed pairs at the World Bowls Indoor Championships in Aberdeen. Ross has also served on the Commonwealth Games Wales Athlete Commission, bringing a broader perspective to his role as one of the squad’s most senior figures. He will compete in both Singles and Pairs in Glasgow.
