Joshua Whitehouse

Joshua was introduced to judo at the age of six after finishing a swimming session at his local leisure centre and noticing a judo class taking place in the sports hall. Curious to try something new, he stepped onto the mat and has been involved in the sport ever since.
A key stage in Joshua’s development came when he moved to Swansea for university, where balancing training between Swansea, Cardiff, and Walsall significantly accelerated his progress. Immersed in a high-performance training environment, he continued to improve technically and physically, building the foundations for national and international success.
Throughout his journey, Joshua has looked up to Natalie Powell as a role model, inspired by her achievements at the highest level of Welsh judo and her continued impact as a coach. He also credits his family for their unwavering support, acknowledging the time, commitment, and sacrifices they have made to support his development within the sport.
