Josh Bell
Josh was introduced to judo from an early age, with the sport firmly embedded in his family background — his father competed as a professional judoka during the 1990s. Growing up around judo, Josh was drawn to the sport naturally and developed a competitive mindset from a young age, spending much of his childhood on the mat.
A defining moment in Josh’s journey came when he attended the London 2012 Olympic Games, where watching judo at the highest level inspired him to pursue the sport professionally. From that point, his ambition and commitment to judo intensified, shaping his focus and long-term goals within the sport.
Throughout his career, Josh has been influenced by a number of key role models, including Olympic champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili and former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, alongside his coaches JP Bell and Matt Purssey. Outside of judo, Josh enjoys gaming, using downtime away from training and competition to relax and reset.
