Weightlifting
The Commonwealth’s strongest competitors will come together in Birmingham, with athletes segmented into bodyweight categories. Every athlete will perform three lifts, the snatch and the clean and jerk. The discipline is one of Wales’ strongest sports in Commonwealth history. Since 1954, the nation has brought home 53 medals in the sport. Dave Morgan MBE, was the winner of 12 of these Commonwealth medals in total and goes down in history as the only athlete to become the Champion at five different Commonwealth Games; with an outstanding record of 9 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals to his name.
