Megan Barker

Megan Barker is an accomplished endurance cyclist from Cardiff, with a career built across both track and road disciplines.
Born and raised in Cardiff, Meg began cycling with Maindy Flyers, one of Wales’ most successful grassroots cycling clubs. Alongside her older sister Elinor, she first noticed the riders at Maindy on the way home from swimming training, and it was not long before both sisters moved from the pool to the bike.
Meg was just seven when she first rode on the velodrome and began racing soon after. Her early cycling years included a mix of disciplines, from track racing to road racing, as she progressed from the junior ranks into elite competition.
Her journey has also included significant setbacks. After early success on the track, including European junior team pursuit gold, Meg faced health challenges including glandular fever and a blood clot on her lung in 2017. Those setbacks meant she missed two seasons on the track and much of her under-23 development period.
Meg returned strongly at the UCI Track World Cup in Paris at the end of 2018, taking silver in the Scratch Race. In 2019, she won Madison gold with Jess Roberts at the European Games in Minsk, as well as Team Pursuit silver alongside Roberts, Jenny Holl and Josie Knight.
She later became part of the Great Britain Team Pursuit squad, winning World Championship medals before helping the team secure back-to-back world titles in 2023 and 2024. Although she narrowly missed out on Olympic selection for Paris 2024, she played an important role in supporting the squad as travelling reserve.
On the road, Meg has also enjoyed success, including winning the youth classification at Rás na mBan in 2018, a round of the Tour Series in Galashiels in 2022 and the British National Criterium Championship in Redcar in 2023.
