Jessica Roberts

Jess Roberts is an Olympic medallist and one of Wales’ leading endurance cyclists, with a career that has taken her from the outdoor velodrome in Carmarthen to the Olympic podium.
Born and raised in Carmarthen, Jess began cycling with Towy Riders, where she spent evenings at Carmarthen Velodrome riding track, road and cyclo-cross bikes with friends. Those early club sessions helped spark a love for the sport that would go on to shape her career.
Jess has represented Wales at two Commonwealth Games. Her first came at Gold Coast 2018, when she was 18, before returning to compete at Birmingham 2022. Across both Games, she raced in the Team Pursuit, Points Race and Scratch Race.
At Birmingham 2022, Jess and her Welsh teammates came agonisingly close to a bronze medal in the Team Pursuit. Although it was a difficult result at the time, she looks back with pride at the way the team fought and gave everything.
For Jess, the Commonwealth Games has always been about more than just racing. Being part of Team Wales brings her back to the pathway that helped shape her career, from Welsh Cycling’s support system to the early experiences of riding for Wales as a young teenager.
