Alexander Niscoveanu

Alex has been involved in gymnastics for as long as he can remember. Born and raised in Cardiff, he was introduced to the sport almost from birth, regularly accompanying his parents to the gymnastics club where they both coached. From there, progressing into the sport felt completely natural. Alex began with baby gym classes and, at around the age of four, joined the boys’ squad at the gym coached by his father.
Growing up, he participated in a variety of sports, including swimming, football, and tennis. However, gymnastics was always the sport Alex returned to. Although he did not begin competing until he was around seven or eight years old, by the age of nine he had earned places on both the Welsh and Great Britain squads through grade competitions.
At the age of 12, he outgrew his home gym in Cardiff, as it could no longer provide the training hours and facilities he required. As a result, he and his father relocated to Essex so he could train at South Essex Gymnastics Club under the guidance of coach Anthony Wise.
One of the standout highlights of his career came in 2022, when he won team gold and an all-around bronze medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival. It remains one of the most memorable experiences of his gymnastics career.
