Competiton Guidelines

  • The competition is open to Primary and Secondary pupils
  • Entries must be from pupils attending schools in Wales
  • Individual entry, group or a class entry is allowed
  • The entry can be in English, Welsh or Billingual
  • The poem must be original and unpublished
  • Only one submission per person, group or class
  • The theme of the Poem must be ‘Team Wales’ (Commonwealth Games)
  • Send your entry via email or post (details below)
  • Deadline Friday 21st February 2020 5pm

Prize

  • £500 of School sports equipment for the winning entry
    • The winner’s school will receive the sports equipment
    • The equipment needed will be chosen by the school
  • Coaching session for the school by a Commonwealth athlete
  • Trophy for the winning entry
  • The poem will be revealed at the Commonwealth Day Wales celebration on March 9 2020

Terms and Conditions

  • By submitting the poem you have consent from your parents/guardians to take part in the competition.
  • You allow Commonwealth Games Wales to publish your poem on Social Media and use at Team Wales events

For the winning poems:

  • The winning author’(s) can be mentioned by name, subject to parental/guardian consent
  • For the teachers, please inform us if you do not want the school name to be mentioned in the campaign

  • Tweet us with your name and School (Parent, Guardian or school accounts is permitted on behalf of pupils that do not have a Twitter account)
