Day 6 Highlights

Team Wales continues to show their class through the final day of competition 

 

The final day of the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinbago continued for Team Wales in Athletics and Track Cycling, bringing home a further 2 medals. 

 

Sam Fisher won his third medal of the Games after securing a silver medal in the Points Race, with William Salter close behind in 5th place. The pair also raced in the Men’s 10km Race Final, with Sam finishing 4th and William 6th. In the 1000m Time Trial, Will was the first to cross the line for Wales in 4th position in 1:05.897, and Sam closing in with a time of 1:06.433 (6th). 

Lowri Richards was also back in action at the velodrome, coming in 4th in the 2000m Individual Pursuit, and 8th in the 500m Time Trial. 

 

Over at the Hasley Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Joe Berry finished 7th in the Men’s 200m Final in a time of 22.16, whilst at the T38 Long Jump competition, William Bishop cemented his spot on the podium with a jump of 4.44m, winning the bronze medal. Team mate Tomi Roberts-Jones, who earlier made history for Wales, becoming Wales’ first Para medallist at a Commonwealth Youth Games when he won Gold in the T38 100m, finished 4th in the field event. 

 

With the Trinbago 2023 coming to a close, the focus will now change to the Closing Ceremony at Pigeon Point in Tobago, where a carnival themed party will be held on the beach for all the 71 Nations in the Commonwealth.
