Sports Schedule Announced for Birmingham 2022
Looking forward to Birmingham 2022, Team Wales are excited to see the daily sports schedule released today (Friday 16 October 2020) for what is set to be a spectacular games so close to home.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held from 28 July until 8 August 2022. With 11 days of competition planned for the games including two full weekends of sporting action, it is hoped that over one million spectators will be able to attend the home games.
The Games, the largest sporting event to be held in UK since the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will feature 19 sports, with eight para sports integrated into the programme, creating the biggest para sports offering in Commonwealth Games history.
The first day of the competition is set to feature a whopping 14 different sports including Artistic Gymnastics at Arena Birmingham, Rugby Sevens at Coventry Stadium, and Boxing, Netball and Table Tennis all held at the NEC Arena.
There will be 11 days of swimming and diving, 8 days of cricket, 8 days of gymnastics and 7 days of athletics (including the marathon). Ten days will also feature para sport, with the Games boasting the largest ever integrated para programme.
