Commonwealth Games Wales welcomes partnership with CGI in lead up to Gold Coast 2018
Following the most successful Games ever for Team Wales in Glasgow last year, Commonwealth Games Wales have today welcomed the announcement of the official partnership between CGI and the Home Nation teams.
CGI will be the official Systems Integration, BPS and IT Outsourcing partner of Team Wales, Team England and Team Scotland for the next four years, culminating in the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast, Australia.
The Commonwealth Games is the only time when elite athletes represent their home nation when competing at a major multi--sport, global event. The teams who travel to the Gold Coast, Australia in 2018 will be a unique blend of emerging talent and established stars, able--bodied and para--sport athletes. In addition, the Home Nation teams competing at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in 2015 and St Lucia in 2017 will include many stars of the future.

Commonwealth Games Wales is the national body responsible for selecting and sending world class athletes to compete for Wales at the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games. Part--funded by the Welsh Government, they rely on sponsorship to fully meet the costs involved with securing Welsh athletic success.
Welsh gymnast and Glasgow gold medalist, Frankie Jones, who sits on the Commonwealth Games Wales Board said: “The announcement of CGI as the first commercial partner for Wales and the other home nations is great news for Welsh athletes.
“By securing this kind of commercial partnership, Commonwealth Games Wales can do even more to support athletes” training and preparation ahead of the Gold Coast event -- which can only be positive as we aim to raise the bar even higher for 2018.”
