Wales Makes History at the World Bowls Championships

Wales competed against players from 33 nations in the World Bowls Championships from the 29th November until 11th December in Christchurch, New Zealand. Commonwealth Games medallists Robert Weale, Anwen Butten, Marc Wyatt and Jonathon Tomlinson were among the 10-person Welsh squad taking part.

Laura Daniels and Jess Sims made history for Wales at the championships by winning Gold in the women’s pairs final against New Zealand. Along with this fantastic result, Emma Woodcock, Anwen Butten and Kathy Pearce won the Silver medal for the women’s triples against Australia. This is Anwen Butten’s fifth World Championship medal to add to her two Bronze Commonwealth Games medals.
