Urdd choir to sing for Team Wales!

Our partnership with the Urdd continues to grow and we are delighted to come together once more to showcase the talent of our youth across Wales to the Commonwealth.

The Urdd Eisteddfod 2022 is an annual cultural festival that provides a national stage across music, dance and the visual arts for the youth of Wales. The Choir competition will be for the S.A.T.B Choir for 14-25 year olds who will win the opportunity to sing for Team Wales next summer.

Cathy Williams, Head of Engagement at Commonwealth Games Wales said:

“This is another great opportunity for us to bring the Urdd and Team Wales together, giving opportunities to inspire the next generation through events, such as singing and sport. Come next summer, we really do need every single Welsh person to support our athletes in Birmingham. The Commonwealth Games is the largest multi-sport event where we’ll have the best athletes in Wales compete on a world stage against 72 nations and territories across the Commonwealth. The last event in Gold Coast 2018 saw Team Wales come home with a record 36 medals including 10 Gold. Team Wales are looking forward to welcoming the winning choir to be a part of the build-up and celebrations during the summer of 2022.”

CEO at the Urdd, Sian Lewis said:

“We are very proud to be partners of Team Wales for the 2022 Commonwealth games.  This will be an excellent opportunity for our young people to be part of the games and I encourage those interested to have a look at the Urdd Eisteddfod syllabus and go for it! It’s really important for the Urdd to have partners like Team Wales because together, there’s no better way to reach and inspire young people in every corner of Wales.”

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity, and we look forward to sharing more information with you over the coming months.
