Birmingham 2022

27th Jul 2022

“Heart of the UK, soul of the Commonwealth”

Birmingham is home to 1.1 million people and one of the most culturally diverse cities in the UK. It stands for being the diversity of the Commonwealth and has more canals than Venice! It is the youngest city in Europe with under 25s accounting for nearly 40% of its population.

All Commonwealth Games events are taking place in and around Birmingham at the 2022 Games, except cycling which will take place at London’s velodrome!

There is also the introduction of the Commonwealth Games Village, being built in Perry Bar. There is an estimated £15-20 million being spent on the train station refurbishment in that area and 1,000 new homes are being built! After the Games these homes will be for sale and rent with a bigger picture to increase housing in the city.
