Non Executive Chair

Helen has recently completed her first full cycle as Chair of Commonwealth Games Wales following her election to Chair in 2013, a year before Glasgow Games and has led the organisation onto Wales’s most successful Games in Gold Coast 2018. Helen is efficacious business woman with a mighty reputation as a sports administrator having led transition in Welsh Gymnastics, British Gymnastics and Commonwealth Games Wales. Helen has played a part in evolution of many sporting bodies in a non-executive capacity. A prominent personality within the Commonwealth Games family, who is currently the only female Chair in European Commonwealth Games Federation.

Supporting the CEO and representing the membership is the primary function of the Chair, equally representing an outstanding skilled board allows Team Wales to continue to provide a world class environment for Team Wales athletes to perform.

The Chair & CEO have driven the change in CGW to be an everyday business, encompassing extensive commercial, community and enhanced communications activity.

The athlete-first attitude is primary to everyone’s thinking and having introduced athlete engagement at board level, Helen ensures that every decision at board has a clear line of sight to a positive impact to the athlete experience at the Youth and Commonwealth Games.
