The Commonwealth Youth Games are a small-scale version of the Commonwealth Games, designed for young people aged between 14 and 18 in the 71 Commonwealth countries. The first event was held in Edinburgh in 2000. The second edition was held in Australia in 2004, and the third in India in 2008.
Following a decision by the Commonwealth Games Federation at their General Assembly in 2005 to move the Youth Games outside of Olympic Games years, the next Commonwealth Youth Games were held on the Isle of Man in 2011 and Samoa in 2015. The 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games will be held in the Bahamas.
